Ocho sits at 1870 Fourth Avenue in San Diego, open seven days a week starting at 7:00 AM. The menu is straightforward and built around doing things right. Specialty burritos, a build your own option for people who want to customize, and both full size and mini sizes depending on how hungry you are. That flexibility alone puts it a step ahead of most breakfast spots in the city.

What We Ordered

We went with two of the specialty burritos and both delivered.

The chorizo breakfast burrito with added potatoes was a 10 out of 10. Bold flavor, great texture, and the kind of burrito that makes you think about it after you leave. The only note was that a little more cheese would not hurt, but the overall taste was so good it did not matter. It is exactly what a breakfast burrito should be.

The machaca burrito was an 11 out of 10 and the clear standout of the visit. Rich, savory, and the kind of burrito that earns that rating without any hesitation. The machaca is tender, the flavors are deep, and the whole thing comes together in a way that feels like it took real care to put together. Google reviews back this up. One regular called it five stars with a good tortilla, moist and juicy, and excellent red and green salsas. That tracks exactly.

The mini size option on the machaca was a nice touch. Not every spot gives you that choice, and it makes Ocho work for a quick stop just as well as a full sit down breakfast.

Build Your Own Is There If You Want It

If neither specialty burrito sounds like your thing, Ocho has a build your own option that lets you put together exactly what you want. It is a smart addition to the menu and means there is something for everyone without overcomplicating things.
